The Nokia Open kicked off with a beautiful partly cloudy day, though it was a bit chilly in the morning. The vibes were great, and everyone was pumped up to take on the modified beast layout. The course didn’t hold back and the beast showed it’s teeth throughout the day! With its tricky holes, tight OB’s and being a course that demanded both physical and mental prowess, players had their work cut out for them resulting in multiple bogies. But despite the challenges, we witnessed some great highlights in both divisions. One standout moment came from Hjalte Jensen, who pulled off an incredible putt from the knee on hole 5. Mikael Häme, Lauri Lehtinen and Heidi Laine are in the lead after day 1!

In the FPO Division Heidi Laine showed her strength  and battled it out with the beast. She unleashed some killer drives and nailed some sweet putts, finishing the day with a solid score of +5 to claim the top spot. Tinja Väisänen and the highlight machine Silva Saarinen were right on her heels, shooting +7 to secure their positions among the leaders. Tomorrow’s lead card will feature an all-Finnish lineup for a change, as Jenni Karppinen joins the mix. It’s gonna be a showdown you won’t wanna miss!

On the MPO side, some players did manage to tame the beast and put on a show. Mikael Häme and Lauri Lehtinen were on fire, both shooting an impressive -8 to grab a share of the first-place spot. These guys were in the zone, showing off their skills with finesse. But they’re not alone in the battle as tomorrow’s lead card will also include the EPT Leader Mauri Villmann one stroke behind the leaders and talented Kristian Kuoksa shooting -5 today. It’s gonna be a clash of the titans, so tune in on Disc Golf Stream!

As the Nokia Open continues, the players will face the ongoing challenge of the beast, pushing themselves to the limit. With the leaderboard tightly contested in both divisions, every stroke counts as they jockey for position and fight for victory.
