One of the longest running Disc Golf tournaments in the UK, the British Open has taken place at many of the best courses the country has to offer. Running for the 44th time in 2023, the British Open comes to a brand-new, golf course location at Sysonby Acres, Melton Mowbray. Join us in the home of Stilton Cheese and Pork Pies for a hot summer weekend of disc throwing, local beer and entertainment.

Event cancelled

Unfortunately the EPT-X British Open had to be cancelled. Here is more information from the orgizanizing party.

Hi all. This is a difficult message to send.
Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel the EPTX British Open 2023, due to very low registration numbers.
On the back of a very successful and popular event at this years Pork Pie Classic, we were looking to make a bigger and better experience for players at this event.
We set out to make the most inclusive event we could, with all divisions open, options to play 1,2 or 3 days and a course layout with multiple tees, which would be challenging and fun for players at all levels.
Having to hire the venue for three days means we have to set a minimum level of attendance, to make it financially viable. Disc Golf For All never makes money from tournaments. Every penny of registration fees goes into making the experience better.
With only 6 weeks until the proposed date, the low numbers mean that we cannot secure the venue and there wouldn’t necessarily be time to put all of the pieces in place elsewhere.
We are sad but not surprised at the lack of commitment and promotion from the UK Associations. In a year that held so much promise, an event like this could have been incredible with community backing.
Disc Golf For All C.I.C. will now focus our efforts away from multi-day tournaments and push forward with our work for children and communities across the UK and beyond.
You will receive full refunds for your registrations shortly. We hope that you have cancellation options for any travel and accommodation you have booked.
The DG4A team.
